Look what these MIT freshmen did to their dorm room!

Automated Dorm Room

"Two freshman MIT students have automated their dorm room, complete with a big red party button which generates an instant party. Their custom-engineered system is called MIDAS, the Multi-Function In Dorm Automation System. According to the MIT News office, "Gone are the light switches and glaring fluorescent lights of a typical dorm room. Zack Anderson and RJ Ryan's room has several lighting schemes, remote web access, voice activation, a security system, electric blinds and more ... With the touch of one red button, their dorm room becomes a rave. The lights go out, the blinds close, the displays read, "feel the energy" as a voice repeats the same phrase over a deep bass beat.""

Finally, I post!

It's been a long time since I last posted anything, mostly because I kept forgetting. I am getting used to doing stuff on Linux, which I will go over to this summer. I have a 140+ GB hard drive, so I have few worries of installing too many apps and programs.
I can't wait for suumer to start so that I can go to AFA this year. I have two more weeks, and Tuesday is my last real day of school. After that finals start. Chemistry is first, followed by Math and English (on Catcher in the Rye, part of A Farewell to Arms, and a geeral question that deals with everything we read this year as part of class). Friday, the second of June, is Shavuot, during which I will study for Chumash and Gemara, which are on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday I have no finals, so I don't have to go to school. I will study the Chausson Piano Quartet (Third Movement), which is my piece at AFA this year for Chamber music. Then Thursday, and I have no idea what to do then, and Friday, a half-day, when they will give out yearbooks. Then home, free at last!
Plans for summer: AFA for five weeks. Burn our 200+ LPs onto CDs. Get community service updating a database. Study for my next PSAT, in October. Garden and take photos of the garden. Maybe learn photography from some books.
